Today, Tuesday, March 19th, is this year's Spring Equinox. The sun is positioned above the equator, which creates an equal 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. It's also referred to as the vernal equinox.

The warmer weather last week and earlier on have given rise to the first flowers of the season: the early-blooming little bulbs and hellebores.  In fact, for those who've planted bulbs in abundance, crocuses and irises are starting to carpet their garden beds and lawns.  Daffodil season is also slowly beginning...
